Judy and her husband Johnny live like it’s the 1950s, the dresses, the décor, the routines. Judy has even quit her job to be the perfect housewife.

At first, it looks idyllic, with polished kitchens and daily homemade lunches. But cracks begin to show. Money is tight, the novelty wears thin, and their relationship strains under the weight of an idealised past.

Wade’s play asks if nostalgia is harmless fun or a dangerous escape from reality. With sharp humour and emotional punch, Home I’m Darling peels back the layers of vintage perfection to reveal the compromises and costs of chasing a bygone dream.
